Anthology of Athens
Athens Attica
Anthology of Athens is a five-star luxury boutique hotel, a proud member of The Leading Hotels of the World, holder of a Michelin Key, and the first boutique hotel in Greece to achieve LEED certification.
Ideally located opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, the hotel is a tribute to Athens’ cultural heritage — a true landmark in contemporary Athenian luxury hospitality. Our philosophy is grounded in scientific research highlighting the profound influence of culture on human wellbeing. Anthology of Athens aspires to inspire and transform its guests through the cultural heritage of Athens — the birthplace of the philosophy of wellbeing: “The Origin of Well Living.”
Cultural monuments do more than preserve history and values — they represent the rebirth of humanity through the centuries.
The hotel’s architecture and interior design reflect a sense of timeless elegance fused with modern aesthetics. Marble prevails throughout, while the subtle presence of Tinian marble and vertical greenery evoke both luxury and biophilia. Symbolically, the façade is adorned with sixteen columns, mirroring the sixteen remaining columns of the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
The name Anthology is inspired by Emperor Hadrian’s poems found in the Palatine Anthology — part of the renowned Greek Anthology. It is a Greek word, internationally recognized in the world of culture, and its meaning (“the best collection”) perfectly reflects the hotel’s philosophy. The emblem, the acanthus, which inspired the Corinthian order (as seen in the Temple of Olympian Zeus), symbolizes rebirth. The bespoke typeface draws inspiration from inscriptions found on the archaeological site.
Every service and experience offered at Anthology of Athens is designed to connect guests with the cultural identity and monuments of Athens. Highlights include:
The Botany Roof Garden at Acropolis – offering high gastronomy through authentic Greek cuisine and herbs that pay tribute to the pioneering works of Theophrastus and Dioscorides.
Hadrian Bibliotheca – a refined library inspired by the majestic Library of Hadrian, housing over 500 carefully curated international editions, and aspiring to be the most sophisticated library within Greek hospitality.
Upon arrival, guests receive a luxury edition of “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius, a symbolic nod to Stoic philosophy and its connection to Epictetus and Hadrian.
Balaneion Spa – inspired by the ancient Roman baths located near the temple, it recreates the experience of the ancient Greek bath ritual.
Anthology Lectures – periodic talks by distinguished figures from the fields of education and culture.
Anthology Dialogues – private storytelling sessions on philosophy, mythology, and Athenian history.
Tailor-made cultural experiences across Athens’ monuments and heritage sites.
